Who or What is TuneSquid?
WHO IS TUNESQUID?
Just 2 guys who met in high school and have been writing music together ever since (approximately 15 years).
COPYRIGHT FREE MUSIC
FREE TO USE
No DMCA claims, no demonetization, nothing.
We made FREE Copyright Free Music / FREE Royalty Free Music available to Streamers and Content Creators to use without worry.
HOW IS THE MUSIC FREE? WHAT'S THE CATCH?
No catch, we promise! We control every part of the process so we can ultimately decide what to do with it.
Since we compose, record and distribute the music ourselves without third party involvement, we have full freedom to license it in any way we want.
We have chosen to allow Streamers and Content Creators to use our music for free since we had a difficult time finding appropriate music for our own streams and YouTube channels.
How It Works
HOW DOES IT WORK FOR STREAMERS?
Find a playlist or album of our music on Spotify, Apple Music or any other streaming service (click the service name for links) and just let our music play in the background of your Twitch Stream, or other streaming platform.
It's easy.
How DOES IT WORK FOR YOUTUBERS & CONTENT CREATORS?
Download our FREE Copyright Free Music / FREE Royalty Free Music and include it in your YouTube videos. No need to provide credit, though, it is greatly appreciated if you do.
Pretty simple!
Who CAN USE OUR MUSIC?
Anybody creating "Free Public Content" can use our music for free. Seriously, it is absolutely free.
WHAT IS "FREE PUBLIC CONTENT"?
In order to use our copyright free music for free, you must be creating content that is distributed for free to the end user without requiring or being a part of any membership, club, organization, religious group, or any other private organization, paid or not. Your content must also be free (no fees) to the end user and available for the general public to view. Examples include YouTube videos, Twitch gaming streams, makeup tutorial videos on Instagram, or a virtual home tour on MLS. Any sort of television or film including public television and documentaries fall under "Film & Television" and are not considered "Free Public Content". See our section on Commercial Use for more information.
DO I NEED TO REFERENCE, CREDIT OR GIVE ANY OTHER MEANS OF IDENTIFYING THAT I AM USING YOUR MUSIC?
No, we do not require that you credit us. You can use our music on both the free and paid licenses without mentioning us whatsoever. If you would like to show support and help spread the word of our service, we would highly appreciate it if you could credit us in some way.
Where Do I Find My License?
If you downloaded a Free-Tier album, it will be included in the "Zip" file. If you downloaded only certain tracks within the Free-Tier, you can find the license in the "Plans & Pricing" section of our website. Single-Track and All-Access Pass licensing will be emailed to you within 1 business day (Mon-Fri 10:00am - 6:00pm EST). These licenses require us to manually fill in client information and as such, we ask you patiently wait for their arrival. Please ensure your information at checkout is accurate and that you provide a valid email address that we can forward the complete licenses to.
Commercial Use Licenses
CAN I USE YOUR MUSIC FOR A COMMERCIAL PROJECT SUCH AS FILM, ADVERTISING OR CORPORATE TRAINING VIDEO?
We offer paid licensing for any projects that are considered "Commercial Use". Anything that does not meet our qualification of "Free Public Content" is considered Commercial Use and is subject to paid licensing. Free trials of video streaming services such as Netflix and free content on these platforms, "member only" YouTube / Patreon content, and advertisements on sites such as YouTube just to name a few examples are still considered Commercial Use. Please read through our FAQ for more information and contact us if you are unsure whether your project requires paid licensing.
FILM & TELEVISION
Due to the complexity of laws surrounding music and sound in Film & Television, we require a commercial license to be purchased for these applications. This includes but is not limited to network television, independent and studio films, documentaries, short films, and films or shows set to be released for free on sites such as YouTube or the creator's website. Our standard commercial licenses only apply to Film/Television projects with a total budget less than $1,000,000 - if your project exceeds this, please contact us for a custom quote. If you are unsure whether your project is considered "Film & Television", please contact us.
I'M A VIDEOGRAPHER OR VIDEO EDITOR WORKING FOR CLIENTS. CAN I USE YOUR MUSIC?
Yes, of course. You will just need to know where your client plans on releasing the content. If you are a Real Estate Videographer for example making videos that will only end up on YouTube or MLS, this is publicly available content and you can use our music for free. If your client's video falls under a commercial license, you will be required to purchase a license. If you are unsure, contact us.
I'm A Student Making A Video For A Class Project.
As long as you do not plan on releasing your video outside of this project, you may use our Free-Tier music. Should you need higher quality audio files, please consider the Single-Track License or All-Access Pass.
Where do I find the Single-track Licences for purchase?
Please click on the "Commercial Use Music" page. This page encompasses both the Single-Track licensing as well as the All-Access Pass licensing. If you decide to upgrade to the All-Access Pass, you will see the albums will automatically become available to download for free. Simply click the "Free For Subscribers" button under the album title.
How Does The "All-Access" Pass Work
What is the "All-Access Pass"?
We are offering our entire catalog of music (current and upcoming) to be used by paying a single upfront fee. You or your clients may use our Royalty Free Music in any project (minus a few applications that violate our terms of service - continue reading our FAQ for more info). As a bonus, we are also including all video editing templates within the pass for free.
Is this A Subscription?
No, this is a one time purchase. Yours to keep forever.
Why Is It So Cheap?
As we are a small company of only 2 musicians/recording engineers and currently only have a small but high quality catalog of music, we thought this was a fair price. This price may increase in the future once more music gets released, however, your purchase remains valid for life. You will never be asked to buy updates or purchase a new license.
Will My All-Access Pass Expire?
No, you will always keep your All-Access Pass. You are purchasing a lifetime music license to use all of our current and upcoming music.
I purchased the Pass from the store. Now what?
You will receive an email with instructions on setting up your password as well as the licensing agreement within 1 business day (usually within 1 hour). This is a manual process and we have to create accounts for every purchaser. Once you receive this, you will be able to follow the link back to the site to create your password and start downloading the Royalty Free Music.
How Do I Log in or log out?
At the bottom of every page, there will be options to Log In and Log out. Once logged in, you will also see an option to update your profile including changing your password, email address and all other information.
How Do I Download The Music?
It's simple! Go to the "Commercial Use Music" page and login in at the bottom of the page. A new button stating "FREE FOR SUBSCRIBERS" will appear under the album titles. Click this to download the album.
Why does the site say i'm a monthly subsciber?
Unfortunately, our site builder does not have "member only" pages so we must rely on subscription pages. As we are manually enrolling you, there are no recurring fees. You only pay the single All-Access Pass charge once. If you somehow stumble on to a page that allows you to buy a subscription, DO NOT enroll. This will cause recurring fees. We tried our best to eliminate this page but it may come up on the All-Access Pass Login page under certain situations.
Copyright, DMCA & Monetization
CAN I STILL MONeTIZE MY VIDEOS?
Yes, of course! Regardless of whether you are using our music for free or under a paid license, we are not going to take your earnings by claiming your videos. Providing you with high quality Royalty Free Music / Copyright Free Music is the point behind TuneSquid and demonetizing your videos would directly contradict this.
WILL I GET ANY Copyright/DMCA STRIKES OR CLAIMS?
Absolutely not! That is the whole point of offering Royalty Free Music / Copyright Free Music. We wrote the music, we own the music and we released it ourselves. We created our music with the sole purpose of being free for all Streamers and Content Creators without having to worry about DMCA strikes or copyright claims. Any claims are either mistakenly flagged or somebody trying to steal our music (which we would handle on our end). Either way, these are issues that SHOULD NOT HAPPEN and if they do, are generally resolved by filing a dispute with a copy of our license. You will not lose any money on the video in question. If you are unsure what to do, don't hesitate to contact us.
Can I upload anything to a content ID Syetem?
No. You are not allowed to upload anything to a Content ID system under any circumstance. This includes but is not limited to a song, sample, derivative work or anything containing any portion of our music regardless of whether it has been altered. Doing so may cause issues for our users and we will be forced to pursue legal action against anybody that uploads any part of our music to a Content ID system regardless of whether it was intentional or not.
Other Uses
CAN I PLAY YOUR MUSIC AT MY ESTABLISHMENT, FESTIVAL OR EVENT?
Yes you can definitely play our music as background music. If your establishment or event reports to a Performing Rights Organization, we have absolutely no issues with this. If you are playing this at your local coffee shop, yoga studio, or retail store, we aren't going to ask you to pay for a license. We have no way of knowing you are playing our music, so if possible, please try to support us by streaming the music or consider donating so we can make a few cents too!
CAN I PLAY YOUR MUSIC ON THE RADIO?
We are registered with our local Performing Rights Organization so you can definitely play our music on the radio.
CAN I UPLOAD YOUR MUSIC TO YOUTUBE AS A MUSIC VIDEO, COMPILATION VIDEO, OR VIDEO PLAYLIST?
While we are open to working with some of these channels, you MUST contact us first for permission before posting the video. In general however, due to the way we are monetizing our content, we ask that you refrain from creating these videos. We are not collecting royalties from user created YouTube videos meaning our own videos would be in direct competition with yours and could result in fewer views for us. This hurts our chances of continuing to release more content in the future. The upload of our music as a directly competing stream, video, playlist or audio upload is only time a copyright strike, demonetization, or other legal action may occur. Should you wish to upload this style of video, contact us first.
CAN I PLAY YOUR MUSIC AS A YOUTUBE, TWITCH OR OTHER INTERNET RADIO CHANNEL?
No, unfortunately this would be seen as a directly competing use of our music and we are unable to allow a license for this. As we run our own YouTube channel showcasing our music, and our music is freely available to download or stream on many major platforms, any directly competing uses of our music will be asked to be removed. The upload of our music as a directly competing stream or video is only time a copyright strike, demonetization, or other legal action may occur.
CAN I SAMPLE OR REMIX YOUR MUSIC?
No, unfortunately with the way YouTube's Content ID system works (and other similar algorithms in place across the music industry), sampling or remixing our music could result in copyright claims and demonetization for all of our users. We cannot risk this happening so all sampling and remixing is strictly prohibited and may be subject to legal action. A copyright strike, demonetization and/or take-down order may also occur.
How To Support Us & Payment Info
HOW DOES "PAY-WHAT-YOU-LIKE" WORK? ISN'T THE MUSIC FREE?
Yes, there is a Free Tier. Pay-What-You-Like or "YOUR PRICE" as is seen on our website is a donation option that we incorporated in case you wanted to help support ongoing music composition and our continued development of more Royalty Free Music / Copyright Free Music.
If you would like to skip this section and download our music for free, please just input $0 as your payment option and the checkout option will be bypassed (no need to enter your information).
CAN I DONATE WITHOUT DOWNLOADING MUSIC?
Yes, on top of the "Pay-What-You-Like" music downloading option, we have "Tip Jars" (aka Buy Us A Coffee) implemented on certain sections of our website. You do not have to download the music if you select this method. This is purely a donation feature to help fund more Royalty Free Music / Copyright Free Music.
HOW DOES TuneSquid MAKE MONEY?
While we use industry standard terms such as "Royalty Free", our music is technically not "Royalty Free Music" or "Copyright Free Music" nor is it under Creative Commons / Public Domain in the most literal sense. We are simply providing free licenses to the general public to use our music in free online media such as YouTube and Streaming. Our music is fully copyrighted and monetized, and we collect royalties on plays from streaming services such as Spotify, through paid licensing for paid commercial projects such as television, film and advertising, and through donations. We used the terms "Royalty Free Music" and "Copyright Free Music" throughout our website as these are standardized and recognized terms within the industry that mean "having a free license". A better way to state it is "our music is free to license for certain types of applications", but that would make a rather poor slogan.
I'M A MUSICIAN. CAN I UPLOAD SONGS TO YOUR WEBSITE?
While we are not actively hiring at the moment, we are always looking for talented musicians, producers and recording engineers to join our team. If you are interested in selling your own music to our site or want to offer paid mixing/mastering services, please contact us.
I DON'T SEE A GENRE OR STYLE OF MUSIC THAT I'M INTERESTED IN. CAN I REQUEST MUSIC?
Absolutely! We are trying to make music that you need for your videos and that you want to listen to during long streaming sessions. If you are looking for something we don't offer, please fill out our "Song Request" form. We'll try to make it happen.
